ADHD: Understanding Your Brain, Building on Your Strengths
Living with ADHD can be exhausting. You may feel as though you're constantly working harder than everyone else just to keep up, wondering why tasks that seem simple for others feel so difficult for you. Over time, these experiences can lead to frustration, self-doubt, and the belief that you're somehow falling short. The truth is, ADHD is not a reflection of intelligence, motivation, or character. It is a difference in how the brain processes information, regulates attention, manages emotions, and responds to motivation. One of the most powerful steps toward change is understanding why you struggle. When you begin to understand how your brain works, you can replace self-criticism with self-compassion, build on your strengths, and develop strategies that allow you to thrive.

ADHD is one of Dr. Brandt's areas of particular passion and expertise. She works with adolescents and adults, including individuals who have lived with ADHD for years as well as those receiving a diagnosis later in life. For many adults, finally understanding ADHD can bring a profound sense of relief as lifelong struggles begin to make sense through a new lens.
Dr. Brandt believes that effective treatment begins with understanding—not simply managing symptoms. Her approach combines education about how the ADHD brain works with practical, evidence-based strategies that help clients better manage attention, executive functioning, motivation, emotion regulation, relationships, work, school, and daily responsibilities.
Treatment is collaborative, individualized, and strengths-based. Rather than focusing solely on challenges, Dr. Brandt helps clients recognize the unique strengths that often accompany ADHD while developing tools to address the areas that create the greatest difficulties. Her goal is to help clients replace years of frustration and self-criticism with understanding, confidence, and meaningful, lasting change.
Dr. Brandt also works closely with parents of children and adolescents with ADHD. Through education, guidance, and practical strategies, she helps parents better understand their child's unique brain, navigate everyday challenges with greater confidence, strengthen family relationships, and create an environment in which children can thrive.
